At Red Rock Auto Center, we strive to exceed our customers’ expectations by consistently providing top-quality car care in Sedona at fair rates. We’re proud members of the local small business community and we greatly appreciate it when our customers share feedback about the work that we did for them. Here’s a look at some of our latest customer reviews. “Great experience with Red Rock Auto. Originally brought my 2014 Lifted Tacoma in for leaking CV boots, they replaced both axle shafts with extended travel shafts to compensate for the lift. Truck drives like a dream on and offroad now. Will absolutely use their services in the future!” —Gregory S. “Red Rock Auto has outstanding service! They were fair, honest, fast, efficient and did an excellent job in replacing a part on my Ford F150 truck. My dealership quoted me twice the price and 2 hours of labor. Red Rock Auto did it in 30 minutes. I will not go anywhere else for my auto repairs. Do not hesitate to go with this company. I highly recommend them.” —Sandy C. “Our van broke down while on vacation. Matt and his team fixed it up within the same day. Would 100% recommend Red Rock Auto!” —Brent S. “Red Rock Auto is honest, fair, professional, friendly, and fast! I’ve brought my car here for service twice now since moving from out of state. Also recently moved 20 minutes away from the shop but it’s still well worth the drive! Relieved to have found a trustworthy auto service!” —Alexis O. “We were on a vacation in Sedona, Arizona. We started hearing grinding noises when driving in the mountains. We planned on going to the Grand Canyon the next day and I had a feeling that all my brakes were bad. We called Red Rock Auto Center, leaving a voicemail 30 minutes before they opened. They called us back and we shared our situation and we had our van into the shop before its actual opening time. We had the van fixed and ready to go later that same day and we were able to go to the Grand Canyon the next day. Thank you very much!” —Dave Y. When your engine starts to overheat, it’s a sign that something has gone wrong within the cooling system or related components. Driving with an overheating engine can quickly cause major damage, including warped cylinder heads, blown head gaskets, and even total engine failure. Recognizing the underlying causes of overheating is essential for protecting your vehicle and avoiding costlier repairs. At Red Rock Auto Center, our local mechanics provide expert cooling system repair in the greater Sedona area. Here are four common engine issues that often lead to overheating. Low or Leaking Coolant Coolant is the lifeblood of your engine’s cooling system. It circulates through the engine and radiator to absorb and release heat. If your coolant level is too low, or if there’s a leak in the system, the engine will not be able to maintain a safe temperature. Leaks can occur in places such as the radiator, hoses, and water pump. Without enough coolant, heat builds up quickly, pushing the engine into the danger zone. Malfunctioning Thermostat The thermostat regulates the flow of coolant between the engine and the radiator. If the thermostat becomes stuck in the closed position, coolant can’t circulate properly, leading to rapid overheating. This small component plays a big role in maintaining the balance of the entire system. Faulty Water Pump The water pump is responsible for moving coolant through the engine and radiator. When it fails, the coolant can’t flow, and the engine begins to overheat. Common signs of water pump trouble include coolant leaks and grinding or squealing noises. Because the pump is driven by a belt, even a broken or loose belt can disrupt its operation and trigger overheating. Clogged or Damaged Radiator The radiator’s job is to disperse heat from the coolant as it passes through. Over time, radiators can become clogged, reducing their effectiveness. In other cases, physical damage can prevent the radiator from functioning properly. When the radiator can’t cool the coolant effectively, the system overheats and the engine suffers.
